According to reports from the South African Police Service (SAPS), the man had been out drinking at a tavern with his friends. Subsequently, as they made their way home that evening, tragedy struck.
“While crossing the river, the man was swept away by a strong current of water. His friends managed to get out of the water, but they could not find the missing man due to the volume of water and it being dark,” revealed a police source.
