According to Kathy Oosthuizen, a close friend of Janse van Rensburg, the elderly man was last seen on Tuesday, 30 January 2024, after he was expected to meet a friend for breakfast.

However, he vanished later that day, after he was involved in a collision.

The collision occurred at the junction of Hospital and Sutherland Streets involving a Newcastle Municipal vehicle. While Janse van Rensburg did not sustain serious injuries, he was taken to Madadeni Hospital for further medical attention.

The news of the collision didn’t surface until Wednesday, 31 January 2024, when a tow truck driver informed Oosthuizen. Upon his son’s visit to the hospital, it was revealed that Janse van Rensburg was no longer there, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.

It is uncertain whether he remains in Madadeni or has returned to Newcastle, with speculation suggesting he might be travelling on foot.

Describing Janse van Rensburg, Oosthuizen stated, “He is extremely thin and struggles to walk properly. If anyone has sighted him, please contact me as I am in contact with his family.”

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Ram Janse van Rensburg is urged to contact Kathy Oosthuizen on 083 655 9496.
