Taxi collides with Peugeot on Allen Street this morning

A woman sustained injuries on Thursday morning, 25 January 2024, following a collision involving a taxi and a Peugeot at the entrance of the Newcastle Mall on Allen Street.

Transpiring shortly before 7 am, allegedly, the driver of the Peugeot was turning into the Newcastle Mall parking area, when a taxi skipped the traffic light, colliding with the unsuspecting motorist.

According to a source on the scene, the Peugeot is from Ladysmith and is part of a lift club. “She (the driver) was turning into the parking lot to drop the other ladies off when it happened,” said the source.
Furthermore, the Peugeot driver sustained moderate injuries and received on-site medical attention before being transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Following the incident authorities emphasised the importance of cautious driving and adherence to traffic laws to prevent such incidents.
