Your weekly KwaZulu-Natal dam levels report

In the aftermath of recent rainfall across KwaZulu-Natal, the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has released its latest report on the status of dams in the region.

The current condition of key provincial dams, according to the DWS, are as follows:

  • Albert Falls Dam: The dam’s levels have increased from 95.7% last week to 99.3% this week.
  • Bivane Dam: Notably, Bivane Dam’s water levels have risen from 92.6% last week to 101.7% this week.
  • Craigie Burn Dam: Craigie Burns Dam remains stable this week with water levels remaining unchanged at 100.6%.
  • Driel Barrage Dam: According to the DWS, there is no change at Driel Barrage Dam, as water levels stand at 86.3%.
  • Goedertrouw Dam: This week, Goedertrouw Dam’s water levels are at 100.9%, a slight difference from last week’s 100.1%.
  • Hazelmere Dam: An increase in water levels is noted at Hazelmere Dam, rising from 76.7% last week to 81.5% this week.
  • Hluhluwe Dam: Water levels at Hluhluwe Dam are at 102% this week, slightly better than the previous week’s 100.1%.
  • Inanda Dam: A minor increase in water levels at Inanda Dam is reported, from 101.6% last week to 103.6% this week.
  • Klipfontein Dam: Klipfontein Dam’s water levels have increased to 101% this week compared to the previous week’s reading of 93.7%.
  • Mearns Dam: Water levels at Mearns Dam are at 103.1%, a slight increase from 102.2% last week.
  • Midmar Dam: A notable increase is observed at Midmar Dam, with water levels rising from 85.7% last week to 91.9% this week.
  • Nagle Dam: A slight drop in water levels is recorded, from 100.3% last week to 98.5% this week.
  • Newcastle’s Ntshingwayo (Chelmsford) Dam: A slight increase in water levels is noted at Ntshingwayo Dam, rising from 64.2% last week to 67.8% this week.
  • Pongolapoort Dam: Water levels at Pongolapoort Dam are at 74.3% this week, compared to last week’s reading of 73%.
  • Spioenkop Dam: Water levels at Spioenkop Dam stand at 102.1% this week, as compared to last week’s 101%.
  • Spring Grove Dam: A slight increase in Spring Grove Dam’s water levels is noted, rising from 69.1% last week to 73.5% this week.
  • Wagendrift Dam: Water levels at Wagendrift Dam have increased from 100.9% last week to 102.3% this week.
  • Woodstock Dam: Woodstock Dam’s water levels remain unchanged at 89.8%.
  • Zaaihoek Dam: According to the DWS, Zaaihoek Dam’s water levels remain unchanged at 90.6%.
