As dark clouds slowly fill the skyline, with the sounds of thunder echoing, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow Level 2 Warning on Monday, 4 December 2023, for severe thunderstorms over the western and central interior of KwaZulu-Natal.

According to SAWS, the warning indicates the potential for gusty winds, heavy downpours, and small hail.

In anticipation of these weather developments, AccuWeather forecasts scattered thunderstorms for Newcastle on Monday evening. Further scattered thunderstorms are predicted for Tuesday, 5 December 2023, bringing cooler temperatures of around 28°.

As Wednesday, 6 November 2023 approaches, Newcastle can expect even cooler temperatures, with AccuWeather forecasting a high of 18° accompanied by morning showers. The rest of the week is projected to be significantly cooler, with AccuWeather predicting temperatures not exceeding 30°, coupled with regular rainfall.

While Ladysmith and Dundee may miss out on rainfall on Monday, AccuWeather suggests that both towns can anticipate intermittent rainfall from Tuesday, 5 December 2023, along with much cooler weather conditions.

Ladysmith can expect temperatures to reach 28°, with AccuWeather forecasting scattered showers throughout the day. According to the weather service, Ladysmith can expect an even cooler day on Wednesday, as temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 15°  with further rain on the cards for the day.

As for Dundee, AccuWeather predicts temperatures will reach a pleasant 26° on Tuesday with scattered showers and a thunderstorm. According to the weather service, Dundee can expect morning rain on Wednesday, with temperatures predicted to reach 17°.

As the heatwave appears to be relenting, SAWS cautioned that heatwave conditions are expected to persist in Gauteng, the central and eastern areas of North West, the northeastern areas of the Free State, and the southwestern parts of Limpopo.
