Severe thunderstorms forecast for Tuesday across Northern KZN

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a stern warning as it predicts a series of severe thunderstorms that are poised to affect several towns across Northern KwaZulu-Natal.

According to SAWS, severe thunderstorms are anticipated to impact the following towns:

  • Newcastle
  • Ladysmith
  • Dannhauser
  • Utrecht
  • Dundee
  • Paulpietersburg
  • Vryheid
  • Pomeroy
  • Estcourt
  • Nqutu

Furthermore, SAWS highlighted that the onset of these severe thunderstorms are scheduled for Tuesday, 7 November 2023. The impending storms are expected to bring the following challenges for residents:

  • Flooding of roads and low-lying areas due to intense downpours, potentially resulting in damage to infrastructure.
  • Poor driving conditions could lead to an increased risk of vehicle accidents.

The storm warning is in effect throughout the entirety of Tuesday, with residents advised to exercise extreme caution during this period.
