According to Road Angel Traffic Information, the mishap occurred at approximately 10:20 am. Whereby, sources on the scene said the incident was reportedly triggered by a burst front tyre.

Shockingly, instead of rushing to check on the wellbeing of the driver, a group of individuals seized the opportunity to engage in looting the overturned truck and siphoning off its diesel. “The driver, according to bystanders, is fine. He took his things out from the truck before they got stolen too,” said Road Angels Traffic Information who also supplied the below video.

In response to the chaotic situation and the looters in full swing, the South African Police Service (SAPS) dispatched personnel to the scene. Furthermore, Starz Towing and Van Wettens Breakdown teams arrived onsite to assist.

With this deplorable behaviour drawing to a close and the recovery of the truck underway, commuters and motorists are advised to expect disruptions in traffic flow in the vicinity.
