A planned evening of fun took a terrifying turn for one man following being strangled and robbed at townhouses situated on Coronation Road in Pioneer Park, Newcastle.
The harrowing incident occurred at 6:30 pm on Friday, 8 September 2023, after the 39 year old man had arranged to meet individuals at the townhouses for a night of good times.

The second suspect then proceeded to restrain the shocked man by tying his hands and feet before forcibly taking his cellphone and making the victim unlock it.
Following the robbery, the suspects made their escape from the scene, leaving the shaken victim behind. After the man was freed from his restraints, he reported the incident to the Newcastle South African Police Service (SAPS).
Lizzy Arumugam, spokesperson for Newcastle SAPS, confirmed the case, whereby she further explained that no arrests had been reported at the time of publication.
