Man robbed and assaulted outside Marconi Drive establishment

Newcastle SAPS Detectives are currently investigating a robbery that occurred outside a popular entertainment establishment on Marconi Drive, Riverside Industrial.

According to Newcastle SAPS spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam, the incident took place recently when the victim was out for a night of socialising.

Arumugam explained that during the night, the man stepped outside the bar to have a cigarette when he was suddenly attacked by two men.

Helpless and unable to defend himself, the victim fell victim to the assailants who forcefully took his cellphone and cash. Before anyone could come to his aid, the perpetrators fled the scene, making their getaway in a blue Ford Ranger, which they used to speed off.

As a result, authorities are urging anyone with information about the robbery to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
