On Friday morning, 14 July 2023 drama ensued, as a motor vehicle careened into a fuel bowser situated at the Shell Fuel Station on Allen Street, Newcastle.
Authorities are now investigating the incident that took place during the early hours of the morning, just before 5 am.
According to an official source, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear and require thorough examination. However, the source revealed that speculation suggests the motorist may have forgotten to engage the handbrake, causing the vehicle to roll into the bowser.
“The fire crew received the call at 4:38 am to provide assistance in the cleanup operation,” stated the source. This call became necessary due to some fuel spillage from the bowser being knocked over.
As a precautionary measure, the fuelling station promptly closed its pumps to ensure the safety of its customers and staff members.
