Several of Newcastle’s roads are in dire need of repair, seeing motorists having to navigate through potholes. However, recent developments suggest that positive changes are underway.
The Newcastle Municipality has made a stride in tackling this pressing issue by handing over a newly surfaced road in Ward 22, Madadeni, on 28 June 2023.
Mayor Cllr Xolani Dube addressed the community, emphasising that the Newcastle Municipality is actively resolving its financial challenges, which had previously hindered service delivery and infrastructure maintenance in the city.
Working collaboratively for the betterment of Newcastle’s future, Mayor Dube highlighted that the municipality is now actively engaged in initiatives to address issues within the town. One such initiative involved gathering the public’s opinion and feedback through various Municipal platforms.
With diligent municipal planning and the gradual improvement of its financial standing, Mayor Dube explained that the freshly surfaced road in Madadeni would undoubtedly benefit motorists and learners.
Now, they can travel safely to work and school, no longer dodging the hazards of poorly maintained roads.
Furthermore, Mayor Dube assured the residents that the Newcastle Municipality has ambitious plans to enhance the town’s infrastructure, which includes improving the roads in Ward 18, Madadeni.
