A significant problem at Glendale Power Station has resulted in a widespread power outage, leaving large portions of Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal without electricity.
The Newcastle Municipality, represented by Councillor Bebsie Cronje, provided details about the affected areas, primarily Zone 5, which encompasses the Townlands and includes Schuinshoogte, Signal Hill, Barry Hertzog Park, and Pioneer Park.
Councillor Cronje revealed that she had engaged with municipal officials, and the director of the electrical department confirmed the severity of the issue at the power station, emphasising the need for urgent repairs.

Although the damage is substantial, Councillor Cronje estimated that the repair work would be completed within approximately four hours. In the event of any unforeseen delays, the community will be promptly informed, reassured Councillor Cronje.
