SANDF and SAPS uproot illegal cannabis operation in Northern KZN

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) join forces to eradicate a major illegal cannabis operation in Northern KwaZulu-Natal.

In a significant achievement since their deployment, SANDF’s 7 South African Infantry Battalion, in collaboration with Pongola SAPS, conducted a joint operation targeting a farm in Sitilo, Pongola.

During the operation, authorities discovered and dismantled a large cannabis plantation spanning approximately 0.3 hectares. They also apprehended an undocumented individual from Eswatini, who was subsequently taken in for questioning by Pongola SAPS.

The seized dagga weighed a staggering 500 kg, with an estimated street value of R2.1 million.

The successful operation showcases the unwavering commitment and high morale of the dedicated soldiers on the ground. It sends a clear message that the illegal cannabis sector will not be tolerated in the region.
