NKZN paramedic fatally shot while heading home

Gunshot Bullet Hole

A shocking incident unfolded on Monday, May 29, 2023, as the lifeless body of a paramedic was discovered murdered inside her car.

The crime occurred along the Utrecht/Newcastle road near Mndozo, prompting immediate police response after receiving distress calls shortly after 7 pm.

Within minutes, Osizweni SAPS arrived at the scene. Captain Sipho Nkosi, spokesperson for Osizweni SAPS, reported that upon their arrival, they found a female paramedic inside her vehicle with gunshot wounds.

Regrettably, the paramedic from Utrecht had already succumbed to her injuries. She had sustained three gunshot wounds: one to the neck, another beside her ear, and a third to her chest.

The paramedic had been en route to her residence in the Newcastle area when the fatal shooting occurred.

While the details surrounding the murder remain unclear, Captain Nkosi confirmed that no arrests have been made by the police thus far.

“Police will conduct a thorough investigation,” Captain Nkosi assured.

Although the motive and the identity of the suspect remain unknown at this point, an official police source revealed that the victim was married to a recently released loan shark who had been granted bail. The source claimed that upon hearing of her husband’s release, she had expressed concerns for her safety.

Authorities will delve into all possible leads and avenues in their quest to uncover the truth behind her untimely demise.
