Severely beaten man found covered in blood beside road

In a shocking incident on Sunday evening, 14 May 2023, a 33-year-old man was discovered brutally assaulted along Ingagane Road, Newcastle.

The initial distress call reporting the find was received by Newcastle SAPS, prompting a swift response from the local authorities.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers were confronted with a harrowing sight – the man, drenched in blood, bore evident wounds to his head and hands. Miraculously, despite the severity of his injuries, he managed to maintain consciousness.

Detailing the horrifying ordeal, an official police source shared, “When questioned, he recounted that he had been socialising with acquaintances when a heated argument suddenly erupted.”

According to reports, the altercation rapidly escalated, leading the victim’s alleged companions to forcibly escort him into a nearby thicket, where they unleashed a vicious assault upon him.

Subsequently, they purportedly abandoned him alongside Ingagane Road, near the vicinity of the power station.

The Newcastle SAPS has initiated a full-scale investigation into the incident, treating it as a case of attempted murder. Authorities are confident that arrests will be made in the near future as they tirelessly work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
