Three killed in tragic head on collision on R34

A head-on collision on the R34 between Utrecht and Newcastle resulted in the loss of three lives on Saturday morning, 12 May 2023.

KwaZulu Private Ambulance spokesperson Chantelle Botha confirmed that the ambulance service responded to the scene of the accident.

“Sadly, three occupants sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to their injuries before emergency services arrived,” said Botha.

While the exact circumstances leading to the collision remain unclear, paramedics on the scene treated four patients with critical injuries before transporting them to the hospital for further care.

The identity of the deceased has not been released, and Newcastillian News extends its heartfelt condolences to the families. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
