Schuinshoogte has once again been hit by water challenges, as a number of households in Protea Avenue, Erica Drive, and Begonia Avenue were left without water on the night of May 10, 2023.

Newcastle Municipality‘s Councillor Bertie Meiring provided insight into the issue, citing a burst pipe in Protea Avenue as the likely cause of the water shortage.

“They think that’s probably the reason,” said Cllr Meiring, who further explained that the Municipality’s team would close the water to Protea Avenue to see if the water supply to the other streets would return.

However, Cllr Meiring could not provide a timeframe for when the work would be completed. He did, however, promise to keep residents updated on the situation.

Councillor Meiring also mentioned that another burst pipe had been identified in Ring Avenue, Hutten Heights and that the Municipality’s team would attend to it soon.

Residents are urged to conserve water as much as possible until the matter is resolved. Be sure to leave your comments and thoughts on this in the section below.
