On Thursday, May 4th, 2023, the eMadlangeni Municipality in Utrecht partnered with PET Plastic Recycling South Africa (PETCO) to promote recycling and ensure cleanliness in its community. The Municipality handed over 20 pieces of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to eMadlangeni Recyclers, along with a Recycling Scale.
The objective of the programme was to support the recyclers in the form of reflective PPEs, which will minimize exposure to occupational health and safety hazards, according to the Municipality’s Communications Unit.
Utrecht Mayor, Cllr Mzwakhe Buthelezi, commended the recyclers for their efforts in keeping the community clean and contributing to sustainable environmental and waste management practices. He urged them to continue ensuring that the streets remain clean and to act as agents of waste management by continuously sharing the importance of recycling.
“The Municipality is committed to promoting and supporting recycling initiatives that contribute to the development of our community and our environment,” said Mayor Buthelezi.
With eMadlangeni Municipality actively supporting recycling through this initiative, it is encouraging to see efforts being made to ensure the cleanliness and sustainability of the community.
