Newcastle Police investigate kidnapping and murder of newborn baby

In a horrific incident that has shaken the Newcastle community, a newborn baby was kidnapped and killed, leaving the mother traumatised.

The incident took place on Sunday, 30 April 2023, and the police are currently investigating the case.

According to a police source, the woman had given birth to a baby boy and was waiting for her sister to pick her up on Hospital Street.

A white Golf pulled up, and the occupants offered her a lift. It is unclear if the woman voluntarily got into the car, but the suspects allegedly pulled a black cloth over her head and drove off to an unknown location.

At the location, the baby was brutally murdered by the suspects, leaving the mother distraught. On Monday, 1 May 2023, the assailants dropped the woman off along an undisclosed road in Newcastle, where an unknown man found her and took her to the police station.

“The woman explained that she had given birth to a baby boy and had been discharged from the hospital. She was standing on Hospital Street, waiting for her sister to come fetch her,” said the police source.

The police are currently investigating the case and have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could help with the investigation.
