Trust account created for Janine Francis’ recovery after N3 highway collision

Janine Francis, a survivor of a tragic collision involving 41 vehicles on the N3 highway between Hilton and Cedara, is now on the slow path to recovery.

However, she faces a long and challenging journey ahead after losing her father, mother, and brother in the crash on Easter Monday, 10 April 2023, and having both her legs amputated due to injuries sustained in the accident.

In response to Janine’s situation, the Newcastle community has come together to create a fund-raising trust account with local lawyer, Neven Singh.

This is to provide much-needed funds to cover her medical and living expenses, emotional counselling, purchase of equipment such as a wheelchair, and investigation into the possibility of fitting her with prosthetic limbs.

“The purpose of the fund-raising project is to provide Janine with the necessary support for her current and future needs,” explained Singh. “We hope to raise the sum of R1 000 000 to provide the above to Janine. We have not set a deadline within which to collect the funds and hope to host events, golf tournaments, and whatever else is necessary to raise the funds.”

Janine is currently out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but will require ongoing medical care and support. Singh highlighted that Janine’s recovery will be a lengthy process, and it is unclear at this time where she will live after leaving the hospital.

As the community rallies to support Janine, banking details for the Janine K Francis Trust have been provided for those who wish to contribute:

Bank: Absa Newcastle Account No: 9378515013 Branch: Newcastle Branch Code: 632005

Community members and businesses are encouraged to show their support for Janine Francis as she faces this difficult journey ahead.
