What was meant to be a day of fun-filled fishing at the Buffalo River, near the Spookmill Reserve in the Dannhauser area, took a grisly turn on Wednesday afternoon, 12 April 2023.

At 2 pm, a small group of people were fishing along the river, while their companions decided to collect firewood.

While the one group diligently collected firewood, the fishermen discovered a body in the river, the unknown man’s hands allegedly tied behind his back.

“Police were called out to investigate the matter,” explained an official police source, who pointed out that the identity of the victim and the suspect remains unknown at this point.

The exact cause of death has not been disclosed as of yet.

As Dannhauser SAPS now conducts further investigations, anyone with information is urged to step forward and contact the police.
