A man was fatally stabbed in the neck at Barry Hertzog Park in Newcastle, South Africa on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
The victim, a 39-year-old man, was discovered by two Newcastle police officers who were on patrol when they were stopped by a group of men at the intersection of FW Beyers and Hendrick Potgieter Avenue.
The officers found the man lying in a pool of blood and called paramedics, but the victim was declared dead at the scene. It is believed that the victim was on his way home after a night out.
The suspect is still at large, but Newcastle SAPS spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam confirmed that an investigation is underway. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to come forward and contact the police.
