According to SAWS, “scattered showers and thundershowers are expected across KZN today (3 April 2023) and these thundershowers are expected to become severe over the north eastern parts in the afternoon.”

The thunderstorms will be accompanied by strong winds, severe lightning, heavy downpours, and hail in certain areas. Possible impacts of the inclement weather include localised flooding, damage to infrastructure, and difficult driving conditions.

As a result of the warning, the KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (KZNCOGTA) has issued its own warning, encouraging various safety measures such as avoiding low-lying bridges, staying indoors, and covering vehicles.

With the weather quickly approaching the area, residents are advised to take precautions and remain vigilant.
