Arumugam said that while the woman was going about her day, she was suddenly approached by two African men, one of whom claimed to be a prophet. However, the woman soon realised that this was a scam and refused to cooperate with them.

“Afterwards, one of the men forcefully robbed her of her belongings, and the other threatened her with a broken mirror,” told Arumugam.

The Newcastle Police were notified of the robbery, and one of the suspects was arrested. However, the second suspect remains at large, and police investigations are ongoing.

Incidents like these serve as a warning to people to be cautious when approached by strangers claiming to be prophets or offering religious experiences. The police advise that if anyone finds themselves in a similar situation, they should not hesitate to report it immediately to the nearest police station.

The Mayor and his municipality should be ashamed of themselves. They get paid, with our tax monies, to do the jobs that the residents are now doing, ie. Cleaning our town. As a tax paying resident, I feel proud and grateful for what is being done, but as a Municipal member, ai would be ashamed.
