Crystal Meth, Paradise Newcastle

Newcastle’s Crystal meth dealers appear to be having a rough 2023, thanks to law enforcement officials coming down hard on the drug and its respective dealers.

This comes after two men were arrested in the Newcastle suburb, Paradise, with approximately R40 000 worth of crystal meth on Wednesday, 18 January 2023.

The arrest was thanks to an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Amajuba District SAPS and Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team. Imran Ghafoor from the task team explained that the two suspects were caught in possession of 100g of the highly addictive crystal meth, thanks to the dedication of those involved in the arrest.

With the men taken into police custody, and their drugs seized, Ghafoor pointed out that their VW Polo was also seized by the police.

As law enforcement works to eradicate crystal meth from Newcastle, Ghafoor said, “If residents see anyone dealing or face a problem with their children or other family members, they must contact the relevant people who can assist.”

He further emphasised that dealers are destroying people’s lives, especially youngsters. Due to the damage these dealers inflict across the community, Ghafoor said that it was imperative for people to contact the SAPS if they had any information that could lead them to these dealers.

“Police cannot fight this problem alone, they need the community’s support,” Ghafoor reminded.

As local law enforcement looks at combating crystal meth in Newcastle, what are your thoughts on all of this?
