Kirkland Street, Newcastillian News

The discussion surrounding Newcastle’s drug epidemic, especially that of whoonga and rock use, continues to scorch the town’s weary reputation. However, on Christmas evening, the Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team managed to arrest a peddler of these destructive products in the town’s CBD.

On Saturday, 24 December 2022, Amajuba District SAPS, Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team and the Community Policing Forum (CPF) stated that they were patrolling Kirkland Street and noticed a man acting suspiciously.

When law enforcement attempted to approach the person, Ghafoor said he immediately took off. “The suspect was chased and apprehended, and when searched, 15 parcels of rock and 12 parcels of whoonga were found on him.”
