Car smashes into Newcastle Inn wall, leaving two dead

In the early hours of Monday morning, 28 November 2022, a car with four occupants smashed into the perimeter wall of the Newcastle Inn (Holiday Inn), on Allen Street, Newcastle, resulting in two passing away.

Those travelling past Newcastle Inn (Holiday Inn) would have noticed the hole from the women’s vehicle.

While the circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear at this stage, Newcastle SAPS spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam explained that Newcastle Detectives have opened a case of culpable homicide.

“The incident on Allen Street took place at 1:44 am on 28 November 2022. Two women were injured and transported to hospital, while another two women, unfortunately, passed away on the scene,” explained Arumugam.

She added that police investigations are now underway to establish exactly what led to the collision, and the tragic death of the two women.

Newcastillian News and Pixelfish Marketing send our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
