Various towns across Northern KwaZulu-Natal can expect afternoon and evening thunderstorms, according to the South African Weather Services (SAWS) which issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for Newcastle and neighbouring towns.
The warning stated that scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across KwaZulu-Natal from Tuesday afternoon, 22 November 2022, with some of these storms expected to become severe over the central and western interior of the province.

According to the weather service, these storms were expected to start at 3 pm and continue until 11 pm.
The storms, SAWS said, were expected to be accompanied by heavy downpours that might result in localised flooding, strong gusty winds, hail and excessive lightning.
Areas expected to be impacted by the storms are as follows:
- Newcastle
- Utrecht
- Vryheid
- Pongola
- Ulundi
- Dannhauser
- Ladysmith
- Bergville
- Estcourt
- Msinga
- Umvoti
- Mpofona
- Nklandla
With inclement weather conditions expected, Newcastillians are encouraged to practice caution during this time and get their vehicles under cover. (Good motivation to get the boss to let you off early.)
