Yet another woman has fallen victim to a violent crime. This comes after a 62-year-old woman was found murdered in her home in Stepmore Village, Underberg.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development stated that the elderly woman was found in a pool of blood covered with a blanket.
The Department said that unknown people attacked 62-year-old Mayvis Lieketseng Molefe with her body only discovered on Sunday, 6 November 2022. This was after her neighbours did not see her for days.
According to the Department, Molefe stayed alone in her home and the details surrounding the murder remain sketchy.
KZN DSD MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza said, “The murder of women is on another level of wickedness in our nation, and we must all to stand up against such crimes. There are a lot of heartless criminals who prey on older persons in society.”
In addition, MEC Khoza said the absolute brutality of crimes was shocking, pointing out an increasingly disturbing trend in the levels of aggression affecting elderly people.
While encouraging communities to play an active role in protecting vulnerable people, the MEC has now called on law enforcement to work around the clock to track down those involved in Molefe’s murder.
MEC Khoza further called on local communities who might have information regarding Molefe’s murder to share it with the police or leaders they trusted.
