Purchasing new equipment in order to repair the state of the roads under its care, the Alfred Duma (Ladysmith) Municipality handed over a new excavator and TLB (tractor-loader-backhoe) vehicle to its Technical and Infrastructural Services Department on Wednesday, 2 November 2022.
Following the handover of the two vehicles, the Municipality noted that Ladysmith residents will soon be commuting on rehabilitation (maintenance) gravel roads, as the repair work to the local roads is set to begin in the coming days.
The Alfred Duma Municipality Mayor, Cllr Zama Sibisi stated that the municipality has noted numerous road report complaints from the public, and it is responding to the public’s concerns.
Moreover, he emphasised that to speed up service delivery, through efforts by the Mayoral Office, the Ladysmith Municipality was able to hand over the two vehicles, which will be used in ensuring the rehabilitation process is a success.
“Our intention is to provide well-accessible roads, and at this point, we felt the need for this kind of machinery to accomplish our duty of providing safe and quality roads. These two yellow plants will be used in carrying out projects of road maintenance, as well as stormwater management within the municipality,” stated Cllr Sibis, who further added that the government entity believed its residents had the right to quality roads.
As the Alfred Duma Municipality prepares to restore its roads, what are your thoughts on the above-mentioned?
