According to reports, the recent weather brought a wondrous sight in the form of a funnel cloud (a tornado that has not yet touched ground), near Bergville, KZN—at the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains.
The rare sighting was spotted on Thursday afternoon, 27 October 2022. However, according to Vox Weather, no damages were reported nor was there proof of any touchdown.
Diving a bit deeper into the difference between a funnel cloud and a tornado, Vox Weather explained, “Crucially, a funnel cloud does not reach the earth’s surface, at the point it reaches land it becomes a tornado, or if it reaches a body of water, it becomes a waterspout.”
