A woman is undergoing psychiatric evaluation after throwing her baby out of a window at the Newcastle Provincial Hospital on Friday, 16 September 2022.
According to an official source, the woman in question has a history of psychosis and after an alleged altercation with her boyfriend, threw the newborn baby out of the window.

The spokesperson for the KZN Department of Health, Ntokozo Maphisa said, “The Department can confirm the unfortunate incident, in which a newborn baby was thrown out of a window, allegedly by his mother. The baby fell 1.6m onto the landing of a balcony.”
Thankfully, the baby survived the fall and according to Maphisa, is in a neonatal ICU ward, in a stable condition.
“The mother of the baby was subsequently sent to another healthcare facility for psychiatric evaluation. The matter has been reported to the police. While circumstances surrounding the incident are subject to an investigation, social workers from the KZN Department of Social Development have been informed about this matter, and are on hand to assist with the safe placement of the child once discharged from the hospital,” stated Maphisa.

That is a horrible hospital, it needs to be investigated, they are very rude and and arrogant to the mothers.
There is nothing wring with that hosp i was there for 2 days ans i dont have any complaints they were very nice and the cared for me very good . They werent rude to my once so . i give that hosp a 5*
A thorough investigation has to be done. Clearly she is mentally disturbed. I thank God the baby survived which is a miracle all by itself. The boyfriend also needs to explain what he did to trigger such a reaction
The mother did a really, really terrible thing. However, mental health issues are real and should not be ignored
Having a history of pyschosis is not an excuse to throw a baby out the window there is a place such as a mental institution at a female prison which she must be place at.😡😡🤬
