The search for 61-year-old Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal resident, Sandie Cynthia Mtshali, has come to a tragic end.
Newcastle police urgently called on the community for assistance during the latter part of last week, following Mtshali’s disappearance.
Police spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswas Ngcobo explained that Mtshali lived in Arbor Park and was last seen on Monday, 5 September 2022. “Her vehicle was later found abandoned in a ditch at Ingogo,” explained Constable Ngcobo.
Furthermore, Mtshali had apparently left her home to run errands in town and visit a local shopping complex. But upon failing to return home, her family reported her missing.
Despite the SAPS calling on the community for assistance in locating her, the search for Mtshali came to a tragic end on Friday, 9 September 2022. Constable Ngcobo explained that on Friday, Ingogo Police received a complaint about a dead body that had been discovered.
After attending to the scene, Constable Ngcobo said, “The female was identified by a family member as Sandie Cynthia Mtshali.”
As foul play is suspected, the Constable further stated that a case of murder was opened at Ingogo SAPS for investigation.
