Sneaky thief wanted after stealing from Dundee Municipality

Sneaky Thief steals from Endumeni (Dundee) Municipality

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

The Endumeni (Dundee) Municipality and Dundee SAPS are searching for a man, who calmly walked through the municipal building, before stealing a laptop from a municipal employee’s office on Tuesday, 17 August 2022.

Sakhele Zulu of Endumeni Municipality’s Corporate Services explained, “I went out for lunch, with my PA still working. While I was out, a man came into my office, but when he saw my PA there, he didn’t come in.”

However, when the PA stepped out, locking the door behind her, the man managed to get the door open, walked past the PA’s laptop and cellphone, went into Zulu’s office, and grabbed the laptop. He then made his exit, and allegedly placed the stolen laptop into a bag.

“After he put the laptop into his bag, he went back into my office and saw my PA had returned. He then asked her about a person who doesn’t work at the Municipality, before leaving,” told Zulu.

CCTV footage was checked, and the sneaky thief was identified. A case at the Dundee SAPS has since been opened, but the Endumeni Municipality is calling on Newcastillians to help them locate the man.

If anyone recognises him, they are urged to call Mr S. Zulu or Mr S. Ndima, on 034 212 2121, during working hours.
