If reports ring true, then change is in the air for the Dannhauser community, with the town’s municipality addressing issues within its ranks.
From 3 August 2022 until 4 August 2022, the Dannhauser Municipality began a two-day Strategic Planning Session.
According to the government entity’s Communications Unit, the purpose of the session was to review municipal objectives and strategies and to discuss a turnaround strategy. This is to enable the municipality to respond to the developmental needs of the community.

The session was further aimed at being an organisational management activity used to set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations and ensure that employees and stakeholders are working towards a common goal.
The two-day session saw the Dannhauser Mayor, Cllr Sibusiso Kunene, Deputy Mayor, Speaker, Whip and all councillors, and representatives from CoGTA, Amajuba District Municipality and IEC in attendance.
With various key officials at the event, the Municipality’s Communications Unit pointed out that one of the major objectives of the Strategic Planning Session was to reposition the Dannhauser Municipality in order to maximise the efficiency, effectiveness and impact of the Municipal Council both within the municipality and the community.

Some of the objectives touched on were as follows:
- To conduct an assessment of the current state and performance of the municipality.
- To develop a set of principles and operating framework that reflects the repositioning of the local municipality.
In his presentation, Mayor Kunene said, “This strategic session should serve as the roadmap in prioritizing objectives and initiatives, as well as looking at important metrics to ensure we are on the path to success.”
The Dannhauser Mayor concluded by encouraging all stakeholders to participate constructively and to ensure the municipality developed the necessary strategies to combat corruption—to ensure the Dannhauser Municipality could strive for accountable governance through collective leadership and public participation.
The session concluded with the Municipal Manager, Mr S Cele, giving holistic recommendations whereby an action plan will be tabled for endorsement by Council.
