In a recent report, the Osizweni SAPS have apprehended three people, one of which is a suspected hitman hailing from Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal.

The spokesperson for Newcastle SAPS, Lizzy Arumugam explained that the arrest was made on Monday night, 1 August 2022. This followed law enforcement from the Amajuba District SAPS and Osizweni SAPS responding to information regarding illegal firearms and ammunition, held at a home in the Inverness area of Osizweni, KZN.

Upon investigation, law enforcement found two 9mm pistols and 17 live rounds of ammunition in the house.

Osizweni SAPS spokesperson, Captain Sipho Nkosi explained that following the discovery of the guns, two men and a woman were arrested, and three cellphones were seized.

However, Captain Nkosi stated that the preliminary investigations took an interesting turn. “One of the men is allegedly known as a hitman in the Ladysmith area. The police will now be investigating the matter further, where we will be checking if we can link him to murders and robberies that took place in both Ladysmith and the Osizweni area.”

The man’s two accomplices, according to Captain Nkosi, will also be profiled to determine whether they can be linked to other crimes.
