Yet another violent house robbery has been reported in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal. This time in Jade Street, Sunnyridge, taking place in the early hours of the morning.

Explaining the events that unfolded on 15 July 2022Newcastle SAPS spokesperson Lizzy Arumugam said that at 2:45 am on Friday three men gained access to the house through a window, before making their way through the house.

Fast asleep while the assailants moved through their home, the victims were caught completely off guard. Elaborating further, Arumugam said, “The complainant alleged that he and his wife were sleeping, when he heard the door kicked open suddenly, and three African males entered the room.”

Once in the room and the pair now awake, one of the men proceeded to point a firearm at the shocked couple, before tying them up with shoelaces.

With the other two criminals holding knives, they demanded cash and took an undisclosed amount of jewellery, a laptop, a television, and a gaming console.

However, during the robbery, the suspect with the firearm hit the husband with the butt of his firearm.

Following the traumatic event, the three men then fled the scene and are still at large.

Despite the robbery taking place days after the incident on Uranus Crescent, Arumugam highlighted that the cases were not linked.
