Body with multiple gunshot wounds found along the road in Madadeni

The body of an unidentified man was found in Madadeni on Saturday, 25 June 2022. According to KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, the man’s body was found lying alongside the road. The unfortunate victim had been shot multiple times, with gunshot wounds to one of his shoulders and thigh.

Following the discovery of the deceased, Constable Ngcobo explained that a case of murder was opened by the Madadeni SAPS, with law enforcement searching for the victim’s family and the suspects involved in the murder.

With law enforcement making headway in the case on Monday morning, 27 June 2022, four people were taken into custody. “The suspects were arrested in Madadeni, Section 4,” clarified Newcastle Crime Fighters Task Team member, Imran Ghafoor 

While no firearms were found in their possession, Ghafoor said they had a large knife (panga) with them.

Nevertheless, since the men’s arrest, the deceased’s loved ones have since been located, according to the SAPS.

“This morning (29 June 2022), his family came to the station and will be taken to the mortuary to identify him,” said Constable Ngcobo.
