South African Power utility, Eskom has announced that it will be implementing Stage 2 loadshedding as of Monday, 20 June 2022.

The power outages will take place from 5 pm until 10 pm.

“Due to the continued shortage of generation capacity, loadshedding will be implemented every evening at the same time until Thursday evening (23 June 2022).”

Eskom said that it currently has 5 232MW on planned maintenance, while another 14 202MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.

Moreover, the SOE stated, “Eskom cautions that as the shortage of generation capacity persists, the system will continue to be constrained with an elevated risk of loadshedding over the coming weeks.”
