Desperate job seekers are being encouraged to pay R2 000 to secure themselves a job at the Estcourt Municipality.
However, the municipality’s Communications Unit has stated this is nothing more than a scam, whereby scam artists are working under the guise of the Inkosi Langalibalele (Estcourt) Local Municipality’s Acting Municipal Manager. “There is a person who is calling community members using this number 065 623 4455, saying he/she is sent by Acting Municipal Manager.”

This individual then convinces his unsuspecting victims that people are currently being hired at the Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality but instructs them to deposit an amount of R2 000.
Highlighting that the Acting Municipal Manager is not aware or involved in the matter, the Municipality stated, “Anyone who happens to come across this misleading information, or have been contacted on behalf of the Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality, should know that this information is bogus and it should be reported to the SAPS.”
Moreover, the Communications Unit pointed out that the municipality recruitment drive for vacant positions is done through formal advertisements on recognised media platforms, the municipal website and internal Human Resource processes.
