Newcastillians, brace yourselves for a cold and wet long weekend, if the weather person is right.
This follows the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issuing a Yellow Level 4 Warning for KwaZulu-Natal.
According to SAWS, a cold front is expected to pass through KZN on Friday afternoon, 15 April 2022.

Additionally, South West Winds, scattered rains and thundershowers are expected to become widespread on Saturday, 16 April 2022.
“Considering that the oil is saturated, drainage systems are blocked and river banks have burst, the persistent rain over the weekend may result in further impacts,” said SAWS.
The weather service highlights that these impacts include:
- Flooding of roads and settlements, displacement of affected communities.
- Damage to properties, roads and bridges.
- Damages to mud-based houses possible.
- Disruption due to sinkholes, mudslides, rockfalls and soil erosion.
- Minor motor vehicle accidents due to slippery roads.
- Disruption of municipal services.
Stay safe this long weekend.
