Chinese factory owners found themselves under siege in 2020, being the targets of violent crimes and protest action.
The dire situation claimed approximately three Chinese factory owners’ lives in the same year. Shockingly, all were the victims of brutal murders.
One of the victims, Lu Xiaojun, was viciously stabbed during a business robbery in Stephenson Street, Riverside Industrial.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala explains that on 16 August 2020, police responded to a report of a business robbery in Stephenson Street.
“Upon their arrival at the scene, police were met by an employee who indicated that a vehicle and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken. The owner Lu Xiaojun (50) was stabbed and taken to hospital for medical attention.”
However, shortly after arriving at the hospital, Xiaojun succumbed to his injuries. As a result, an aggravated robbery and murder case was opened at Newcastle Police Station for further investigation. The accused was later arrested and charged with aggravated robber and murder on 4 December 2020.
Flash forward almost two years, and justice has now been served. Lieutenant Colonel Gwala states that on 3 March 2022, the Madadeni High Court sentenced Mtholozisi George Mlotshwa to 15 years imprisonment for the murder committed in 2020.
As the accused serves his sentence, what are your thoughts?
