Man beaten to death with a mannequin

SAPS Gelvandale, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), is investigating an unusual murder case. This is in response to a man being beaten to death with a mannequin.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, 2 November 2021, on Durban Road, Korsten in Gqeberha, according to Colonel Priscilla Naidu, police spokesperson.

She says it is alleged that at about 2.30 am on Tuesday, the suspect woke up a sleeping vagrant.

“When the suspect realised that he was not the person he was looking for, he then approached a male (approximately 60-years-old) who was sitting on stairs and started to assault him with the mannequin.”

After that, the suspect fled with the mannequin. The unidentified man was brutally beaten before he succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

Police are investigating a murder and are asking anyone who knows the deceased’s identity or the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward. Anyone with information can contact SAPS Gelvandale at 041 402 2018/19, Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or their local police station.
