A bone-chilling discovery by Madadeni Police station has many jaw-dropped. This was after police discovered a woman living with her dead mother’s body for over half a year.
Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala explains Madadeni Police recently made the startling discovery in Section 1, Madadeni.
According to Captain Gwala, on 22 September 2021, at 8.15 pm, police received a complaint from community members about a 72-year-old woman who went missing while staying with her daughter.
The police spokesperson says, “The police proceeded to the woman’s place of residence and found her 55-year-old daughter, who locked herself inside the house.”
The police managed to gain entry and questioned the daughter about her mother. Captain Gwala says, “She informed the police that her mother was sick and died seven months ago. She decided to keep the body in her room.”
Police also searched the house and recovered two firearms, both of which were kept in a safe. Captain Gwala states the woman claimed the guns belonged to her late mother and brother.
Furthermore, the 55-year-old woman was subsequently charged for possessing an unlicensed firearm and appeared in Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on 27 September 2021.
However, the case was remanded to 23 October 2021 for the woman to undergo mental observation.
