SA Weather Services predictions for KwaZulu-Natal, including Newcastle and the surrounding areas, are as follows:

Issued by the South African Weather Service.

The warning indicates that the province could experience heavy rains. Consequently, leading to localised flooding in certain areas within the Ethekwini Metro, Ugu, Harry Gwala, Umgungundlovu, and Ilembe District Municipalities.

The inclement weather conditions are expected to last from today, 29 September 2021, until tomorrow, 30 September 2021.

Additionally, KZN CoGTA’s MEC warned residents of the dangers posed by the expected windy and stormy weather conditions. “We are appealing to residents in the areas that could be affected to exercise extreme caution as the weather conditions could deteriorate to dangerous levels. We are appealing to everyone to be vigilant, as the expected winds and storms could lead to localised flooding in low-lying areas.”

According to CoGTA, disaster management teams will closely monitor routes and areas prone to incidents.

Newcastillians are urged to avoid low-lying crossing bridges and to drive with caution. Noting that speed and rain do not work well together.

As showers are expected throughout our province, Newcastillians are urged to practice caution when travelling.
